good for keeping track of your checking and savings accounts. It comes in handy when you need to find a check you wrote and when you need to print an accounting of your finances for tax purposes

We purchased Quicken 2008 because our old Quicken was not compatible with Vista. We both felt that the updates were OK and my husband felt, who uses for all of our banking needs, that this update offers little new. It is too bad that Quicken does not have a simpler version - I use it for volunteer work and don't need all of the bells and whistles... Quicken, however, is still our finance software of choice and we will continue to it.

what a horrible program. i have used Quicken Financial Planner since 1988. This software takes that elegant planning program and combines it with a ruinous software demon. If you want something to help you plan from a MACRO perspective - say looking at retirement twice a year - this is not it. If you want to spend 2-3 hours a day adjusting every penny (if the hamburger was 4.39 a pound instead of 4.38 a pound) then this is THE program for you!!!

While not a revolutionary upgrade from the 2005 edition (there are few major changes and the interface is strikingly similar), the program is stable and imported my Quicken 2005 data flawlessly. It also runs well - via VM Fusion - in Windows XP on a Mac.
The interface has become more "cartoony" and I didn't appreciate all of the Intuit spam that it, without permission, installed on my machine (get a Quicken Visa!) but, in general, I found it a decent upgrade from Q2005.
If you are using Q2004/2005, I don't see any spectacular features in Q2008 which necessitate an upgrade. I would probably wait for the next iteration.

Unfortunately, I am unable to give an accurate review of this product, as I have been unable to use it. I had been using an older version of Quicken for Windows, but the new one was unable to convert the data files so that it could read them. Since I am not at all interested in re-entering over 10 years worth of information, I just copied the whole Quicken file folder from my old computer onto my new one. So now I'm using the old Quicken program, and the new one is just taking up space until I need it for something else.
