Post-consumer paper is paper that has been recycled at home or at the office. Buying post-consumer paper helps finish the job you started--of saving the earth's natural resources, including trees, water, and energy. And using products made from post-consumer recycled materials helps reduce the need for virgin wood pulp, which means more trees are left standing. Trees naturally absorb carbon dioxide--a greenhouse gas that's the primary contributor to global warming. In fact, a single tree, over its lifetime, absorbs about one tone of CO2. To put it another way, a ton of recycled paper saves seventeen trees.

Amazon makes it easy to switch to recycled paper products at our house. There are a couple of things, though, that would make this product better. The rolls are not quite as long as regular paper towels, so they tend to fall off a standard towel dispenser unless it's spring-loaded. And, if we could find the half-sheet rolls in a recycle-able product, that would become the standard for our family. Many times we only need half a sheet to do the job. I love buying "green" products and recycled products. These paper towels are the worst ever. I absolutely hate them. I would send them back if it was worth the shipping. As soon as they are even slightly moist they fall apart and disintegrate. We don't use baby wipes, instead we use paper towels and plain water to clean our toddler and 5 year old boys. I have been buying Seventh Generation paper products from Amazon for the last couple of years. I last bought these paper towels in April 2008 and the price now in August 2008 is $10 more. I just can't imagine WHY the price has jumped so significantly. I will look elsewhere.

Seventh Generation makes one of the best quality Eco-friendly paper products available. Of all the brands on the shelves of my "health food stores", Seventh Generation is a reliable pick. One of, if not the best. These paper towels are no exception.

I really like 'green' products and use quite a few of them. And though I know I am saving trees, among other things, I can't help but wonder if I *really am* saving much of anything when I have to use 3 or 4 sheets of a product that I other wise would have to use one sheet of.
