The Perfect Tear paper towel holder eliminates waste by allowing exactly the desired number of paper towel sheets to be torn off the roll with just one hand. The secret lies in the secure, horizontally wall-mounted base and the ratchet system inside the towel holder. By allowing the roll to make incremental turns in just one direction, the ratchet holds the roll steady during pulling and tearing, thus preventing unraveling.
Three parts come with this towel holder: a weighted chrome arm that protrudes five inches from the wall (two screw holes are on a two-inch center; two 1-1/8-inch screws and two plastic sleeves are included); an 11-inch metal dowel that screws into the arm and features a bullet-shape tip; and a flexible wire cage through which the central dowel passes that conforms to the inside cardboard tube of a paper towel roll. The dowel and cage attach to the arm without tools, but a Phillips-head screwdriver (and possibly a drill) is needed for the wall-mounting. It is easy to install and works great. Each piece of paper towel rips off perfectly. No more trying to pull a piece off in a awkward way.

Out of all of the holders I've owned...this is the best one so far. It's sturdy, high quality, and looks far better than the plastic ones. If you have a nice kichen and want to maintain the high quality feel to match your other appliances, I suggest purchasing this product.

Ok, it's hard to get excited about a paper towel holder - but this one is about as good as you can get for the price. I've always preferred the "single arm" style rather than type with the two clips, which never hold very well and the roll of paper towels inevitably comes flying off at the worst moments. This model has a slight resistance which keeps the roll from spinning out of control when you're trying to tear off a single sheet, and it works great! This thing is friggin' great! It works perfectly, even with the tempermental Bounty Select-Size paper towels, which always gave me two when I wanted one, and one when I wanted two. One-handed pulls are now a reality, with no rewinding, ever.

this device works great. I use a lot of paper towels. No more rolls coming off when you try to tear a towel off and the roll stops after you get your towel.
