Their remake of "Killing Me Softly" was the hit, but that's only the beginning of the story. A hip-hop trio whose talents reach out into the world of the pop song (Wyclef Jean is a fine guitar player, and Lauryn Hill's a heck of a singer), the Fugees are also all distinctive, inventive rappers--you find yourself waiting for each of them to take the next verse in turn. The beats are the familiar crossed-armed boom-bip, but the group's understated grooves and subtle effects lie low in the mix. Aside from two kicky covers of classics (the other is Marley's "No Woman, No Cry"), The Score's focus is on the stars' rhyming with the free-form grace of performance poets and showing that they've thought deeply about the issues they raise. --Douglas Wolk

- The Score-Fugees cd
I had this cd previously but it got misplaced. Me wanting to even purchase another one should tell you what I think of it but I'm going to put it in laymen's terms. This is one of my all-time favorite cds. My favorite track is number 4, Zealots. That is one of Lauryn Hill's best raps ever. She truly breaks it down in terms of her style and the way she sees the world. Killing Me Softly, Fugee La and Ready or Not are also on this cd, which garnered them heavy acclaim.

Too bad hip-hop/rap music isn't like this anymore.

The Score by the Fugees is the most classic, amazing albums of the 90s from hip hop! If you loved Killing Me Softly, buy this album and expand your love for Lauryn Hill and the rest of the Fugees!

altough this album is old school its definetly a blue print that many should follow what I like about the album is a rare mix of reggea,hip-hop
rap and r&b and half the album were major hits wish anyone would bring back the taste of the rufugee camp and many say the sly & robbie mix was akon first song well all I hope you enjoy this album it is a must have if you dont have it.

This is one of those albums that hit me the first time I listened to it, it hit me hard. The unique lyrical styles, and versitile production makes for an other worldly specie of Hip Hop. Very seldom do we get a piece of music like this. Music that's so honest, real, and rare. Lauryn's beatiful voice with dominant lyrics (sorry Wyclef fans, but she gets the gold for lyricism), Wyclefs lively charismatic delivery, and Pras's (very underrated) laid back smooth style.
